In-Progress Drafts
Track and resume AI quotes that are processing or waiting for your input.
The In Progress page tracks all your AI quotes that are either processing or waiting for you to continue. Never lose work - resume exactly where you left off, even if you closed your browser or navigated away.

In Progress Page Overview
Access and understand the In Progress page:
- Sidebar > "In Progress" (clock icon)
- Badge shows count of drafts
- Click to view all drafts
- Draft cards in a list
- Status prominently displayed
- Resume buttons for each
- Delete option available
- AI quotes being processed
- AI quotes paused mid-flow
- Quotes waiting for your input
- NOT: Regular manual drafts (those in Quotes)
- Shows in sidebar
- Count of all in-progress items
- Updates in real-time
- Indicates pending work
Understanding Draft States
Each draft can be in different states:
- AI is actively working
- Spinner animation shown
- "Processing..." label
- Wait or check back later
- AI has questions for you
- "Questions Ready" status
- Yellow/orange indicator
- Click to answer and continue
- Estimate is complete
- "Ready" status (green)
- Review and adjust
- Then proceed to send
- In the send step
- Client info entered
- "Almost Done" indicator
- Complete and send
- Processing failed
- Red error indicator
- "Error" status
- Retry or start over

Draft Card Information
Each draft card displays key information:
Card Elements:
- First uploaded photo
- Visual identifier
- Click to preview
- What you entered
- Or "Untitled" if none
- Helps identify drafts
- Current state (Processing, Ready, etc.)
- Color-coded
- Clear indication
- "Started 2 hours ago"
- Relative timestamp
- Hover for exact time
- Credit was used
- Cannot refund
- Shown as reminder
- City entered for pricing
- Helps identify draft
- Resume: Continue where you left off
- Delete: Remove draft permanently
- View: Preview current state
Auto-Refresh Behavior
The page automatically updates:
- Checks status every 5 seconds
- Updates when processing completes
- No manual refresh needed
- Spinner indicates activity
- Card updates in place
- No page reload
- Smooth transition
- Sound notification (if enabled)
- Status changes to "Ready" or "Questions"
- Resume button becomes active
- Can click to continue
- Toast notification may appear
- Pull-to-refresh on mobile
- Refresh icon/button
- Browser refresh also works
- If auto-refresh seems stuck
- If offline, refresh pauses
- Reconnects automatically
- May show "Reconnecting..."
- Data preserved locally
Resuming Your Drafts
Continue exactly where you left off:
- Opens the AI quote flow
- Returns to your step
- All data preserved
Resume Points:
- Waits for completion
- Then shows next step
- Or shows error if failed
- Opens question screen
- Answer the questions
- Continue to estimate
- Opens estimate review
- Adjust markups/items
- Proceed to send
- Opens send screen
- Complete client info
- Send to client
/quotes/new/ai?draft=[id]- Bookmark for quick access
- Share with team (if applicable)
- Returns to exact state
Find Your Draft
Go to In Progress page and locate your draft by description or photo.
Check Status
Ensure status is not "Processing" (wait if it is).
Click Resume
Click the Resume button on the card.
Continue Where You Left Off
Complete remaining steps: questions, review, or send.
Credit Implications
Understanding credits and drafts:
- Credit deducted at START
- When you begin AI quote
- Before processing begins
- Credit already used
- Even if draft incomplete
- Cannot be refunded
- Processing costs incurred
- AI analysis performed
- Infrastructure costs
- Fair usage policy
- Credit still used
- Can retry the draft
- No additional cost for retry
- Support can help if repeated failures
- Credit not refunded
- Already consumed
- Delete only if truly unwanted
- Check balance before starting
- Complete started quotes
- Don't abandon drafts unnecessarily
- Purchase packs for better value
Important
Credits are consumed when you start an AI quote, not when you finish. Make sure you have time to complete the process.
Deleting Drafts
Remove unwanted drafts:
- Test quotes you don't need
- Duplicate starts
- Abandoned projects
- Cleaning up
Delete Process: 1. Click trash icon on card 2. Confirmation dialog appears 3. Confirm deletion 4. Draft removed
- "Delete this draft?"
- Shows draft info
- "Cannot be undone" warning
- Cancel or Confirm
- Draft removed from list
- Cannot be recovered
- Credit NOT refunded
- Count updates
- Currently processing drafts
- Wait for completion first
- Or wait for timeout/error
- Select multiple (if available)
- Delete selected
- Confirm for all
Error States & Recovery
Handling errors in drafts:
Common Errors:
- AI took too long
- Usually temporary
- Click "Retry" to try again
- Often works on second try
- Photos unclear or unusual
- Try with different photos
- Or provide more description
- Couldn't understand project
- Retry with more context
- Add detailed description
- Connection lost during processing
- Refresh and retry
- Check internet connection
Recovery Options:
- Attempts same operation again
- No additional credit cost
- Usually resolves issue
- Delete and create new
- Uses another credit
- For persistent errors
- Multiple failures
- Unusual errors
- Credit concerns
- Help available
Pro Tip
If you encounter repeated errors with the same photos, try using clearer, better-lit images. The AI needs quality input to produce accurate estimates.
